Tegen was the second engine to be built in house at the SNBR and entered service originally in 1998. However her initial
powered diesel engine was considered under powered by her builder, as well as being in danger of falling apart through age, so after
initial testing showed this engine allowed Tegen to just pull a full set, a new more powerful engine was purchased. At the
same time a new larger hydrostatic pump was purchased, in effect making Tegen a lot more powerful. Tegen is a 4wd sit in Diesel
engine with her cab and roof idea based on Owd Rosie, which in effect means she is based on Tinkerbell (see Moors valley for more information). After
her rebuild into a more powerful engine, she re-entered service in 2001, and has over the years done stirling work covering the Mardyke
diesel engines, as well being used on occassions as first choice engine. Due to the nature of having a 1 cylinder engine, Tegen is very noisy when running, and
is also actually quite hot in the cab, mainly due to the proximity of the power plant. Tegen also sports air operated horns, which have also been fitted to other
engines since the use of her have shown the SNBR how much more reliable these are.
