Montezuma arrived shortly after Owd Rosie from the builder Jeff Stubbs. She is a 2-8-0 American C-19 class locomotive. Montezuma arrived originally named
Utah, but was re-numbered and re-named to her present identification. She is painted a mid night blue colour and until recently was the yearly most used steam
engine. Montezuma is privately owned by one of the SNBR members, and is normally seen running Sundays with her special American wagons to give a truly unique American
feel to our the heart of Kent. Montezuma despite her size is a very powerful locomotive and with addition of some lead weight between her frames and on her
fake domes is more than capable of pulling a full train around the track. Montezuma benifits from a working "westinghouse style" miniature air pump, and her
coaches are the only air braked coaches in the fleet. Montezuma in 2004 over took the Romulus as the most used steam engine ever at the SNBR, but it was not long
the crown was taken by Sir Goss by 2006. During the years, many improvements have been made to American one, with not only improvements to the mechanical running gear but also the cosmetics that give the
engine a fuller American experience. Montezuma has also appeared at Weston Park for the "American Weekend" where she managed to clock up the most miles over that weekend.
