Prince Sheian:

Prince Sheian is a 2-4-0 large narrow gauge engine, based on the design of Jason and other engines at Moors Valley Railway. She was completed in 2010 after an 8 year build, and was completely built in the railways workshop. She has a 150PSI working pressure boiler, which is run at 120PSI for ease of injector use. She has 3.5" bore cylinders with 4.25" stroke with 8.5" driving wheels and for the real nurds amoungst has a 90 sq inch grate area.

Prince Sheian is named after the builders parents She(ila) and Ian thus Sheian, and the Prince part comes from the project being known as project Prince or just Prince, and her owner felt that the word Prince had to be retained for the engine. Prince Sheian entered service on the 3rd April 2010, and was formally named on the 23rd May 2010 by the builders parents. She is painted "monarch red" which is the same colour as our red coaches, but has white lining. Her tender is capable of holding 80 gallons of water.

Prince Sheian has visited Moors Valley Railway 3 times since completion, and has pulled a 13 coach train all day, which was part of the "success criteria" for the engine. she has also surpassed the most trips in a day record for a steam engine, making 36 trips (smashing the previous 32 trip record held by Owd Rosie). During the present period of Sir Goss rebuild, Prince Sheian is also acting as the front line Steam engine along with Owd Rosie, with both engines covering the mileage normally done by Sir Goss. Prince Sheian, despite being 3 years younger than Suisaidh has also completed more miles than the green engine in passenger use. In 2013 Prince Sheian was the 3rd most used locomotive on the railway only beaten by Western enterprise and the new 47.
From 2013 to 2015 Prince Sheian was the most used steam engine on the fleet, clocking up the miles and reaching 1000 passenger miles of service since new by the end of 2015. In 2015 Owd Rosie was withdrawn from service, and it is expected that in 2016 Prince Sheian will once again be the mainstay of the steam engine fleet until Sir Goss or Owd Rosie return to service.
